Black currant


SanLucar black currant matures at Cologne-Bonn along the Rhine. There, they find everything they need –and that is, together with the sun, a clay soil. Black currants are untreated and that is why you can eat them without pre-washing them.

  • Black currants are very bitter and therefore less suitable to eat raw. However, you can make delicious marmalades, jams and jellies with them.
