Gooseberries

The mid Rhine climate is ideal for SanLucar gooseberries and that is why they are only planted there where it is not too shady and the porous soil takes care that no water ponds are formed. The red-cheeked fruit measure 10 to 20 mm in diameter and are full of Vitamin C. Directly harvested into the basket, you can eat the delicious fruits immediately.

SanLucar' Tip:

• Mature, fresh gooseberries are a true delight and should be eaten after a short time. They are also very appropriate for freezing.
• The big, tasty fruits are very appropriate for jellies, jams, marmalades, cold soups, cakes and sweet breads.
