Strawberries

Most of the SanLucar strawberries come from the sunny San Bartolome area. The summer here is very hot and a sea breeze makes its winters very mild – an ideal climate for good strawberries. In particular, the varieties Camarosa and Candonga, thanks to their sweet taste and their attractive deep red appearance, are much appreciated. For the first time we have strawberries from our own cultivation in Portugal in our assortment. In the growing area located on the south-west of the Atlantic coast, our strawberries find the optimal climatic conditions from November to December.

In Germany SanLucar strawberries grow along the sunny Rhine. Lots of sun and a mild climate produce a lot of fruit sugar and therefore a delicious taste, especially for SanLucar’s variety Elsanta.

SanLucar's Tip:

• They last longer in the fridge or in a cool, dark and ventilated place, loose, separated one from each other in a bowl or on a plate. Under these conditions they can last 4-5 days.
• SanLucar's strawberries do not have to be washed before eating them. This way no valuable vitamine is lost.
• In case you still want to wash the strawberries, you should wash them carefully under running water and not leave them for a long time in the water. Remove the stalk with the calyx after washing them, otherwise water may come into the hole and influence their flavour.
