SanLucar' Tip:

• With whole watermelons you can recognize their maturity with a little bit of experience by just knocking on them. Green fruits sound metallic, mature ones give a typical singing sound and overmature ones a rather dull sound.
• Mature watermelons emit ethylene. That causes other fruits and vegetable to mature quicker and rot. Therefore you should keep the watermelons, if possibe, separate from other fruits and vegetables.
• To keep the cut surface fresh you can cover them with plastic film. This way they do not dry and do not absorb other smells.
