Award for »Social Progress«

May 1, 2018 was a particularly joyful day for SanLucar, which will be remembered for a long time and at the same time is an incentive for the future: Tunisia’s President Béju Caïd Essebsi awarded SanLucar in Tunis with the »For Social Progress« award.

Essebsi paid tribute to SanLucar for its commitment to continuously improving the working and living conditions of its employees at the Tunisian farm La Cinquième Saison. The fact that the Prime Minister, the President of Parliament and all the ministers were present alongside the Tunisian President shows the great importance of this award.

A total of 3500 private and public companies were nominated for the prize, which is awarded in four different categories.

The credo of SanLucar founder Stephan Rötzer is: »We don’t just want to be proud of our fruits, we also want to be proud of the way we achieved them«.

Therefore, in our tomato oasis La Cinquième Saison, we employ people with disabilities who often find it difficult to enter professional life. Regular discussions with the team leader and the employees promote their integration. We also care about the next generation and support the children of our employees with school materials and financial support for their education. And last but not least, we know about the health benefits and the connecting power of sport. So we equip the four football teams of El Hamma with jerseys, among other things.
