Fruit and vegetables for dogs, too

Here at Sanlucar, when we think about fruit and vegetables, we think about the incredibly natural and fresh taste of our fruits. And since they are full of vitamins and minerals, we love them even more. Not only do they help us to stay healthy, but our dogs, as well. So don’t worry about letting your four-legged friends enjoy a bit of fruit from time to time. We have written down for you which varieties are particularly good for your little dears, as well as a few other things you should consider:

  • To be sure your dogs get the valuable vitamins and minerals from fruits and vegetables, we have to help a bit: by pureeing or light cooking. Dogs have no enzyme with which they can break down the plant cell wall alone. And if you add a dash of oil, some curd, yogurt or an egg, you’ll be doing them a favour! Then your dogs can also absorb the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.

  • Even if your fruit basket can be filled with all kinds varieties, not every fruit should be put in your dog’s the bowl. Your darling will thank you if you don’t give it grapes and sultanas, avocados, tomatoes, raw onions, garlic, peppers, eggplant and raw potatoes.
  • Nevertheless, there are still plenty of fruits that can be tolerated by your dogs and are good for them. Among these natural talents is, for example, the pineapple: because the vitamin C contained in it strengthens the immune system. Pears are also among the most delicious remedies, because the copper, iodine and magnesium in them strengthen the immune system. And when you’re eating some strawberries in the summer, save a few for your furry friend. Their potassium and calcium are great for the muscles!
  • Make sure, however, that the porridge is mainly made of vegetables – that makes it easier to digest. We wish you bon appetit! 😉
