The term Superfood has been around since the beginning of the 20th century, but it is only now that it has become fashionable and on everyone’s lips. Superfood refers to nutrient-rich foods that are renowned to have a positive effect on the health and well-being of humans. For example, the plant pigments – the anthocyanins of the blueberries – reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. And the unsaturated fatty acids of avocado can normalize cholesterol levels. The vitamin C of parsley strengthens the immune system and the secondary plant substances in the broccoli are supposed to be anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer.
