Best nutrition for best-agers

To stay healthy and feel good, older people should provide their bodies with all the essential nutrients and make sure they are getting a balanced diet.

And where do these important nutrients come from? Exactly! Among other things, from fruits and vegetables! Seniors should consume at least five portions of them. Because fruits, tubers, roots and the like not only contain many vitamins and minerals, but important antioxidants, as well. These protect the body cells from free radicals, i.e. from oxidative stress, and in the worst case, can lead to hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and even cancer.

If you find it difficult to get five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, then you should try smoothies, i.e. pureed fruit and vegetables. There are now numerous recipes that are easy to prepare and taste absolutely delicious. Our favourite: the Pineapple Mango Smoothie! Cheers!

Mango Pineapple Smoothie for four portions:

1 SanLucar Mango (about 600 grams)

1 SanLucar Pineapple (about 500 grams)

2 SanLucar Oranges

100 grams of carrots

Peel the pineapple and cut the flesh into pieces. Peel the mango, separate the flesh from the pit and dice. Halve the oranges and squeeze them completely. Wash the carrots, peel them and cut into small, easy to puree pieces. Puree the fruit and vegetables together with the orange juice with a hand-held mixer or blender. If you like it a bit more exotic, you can also add a little ginger or peppermint to your smoothie.
