Sweet classic: Waffles with Hot Cherries

Today we have a real classic for you: waffles with hot cherries. With this recipe, I certainly not the only one to associate childhood recollections of airy-loose waffles fresh from the waffle iron. How the smell of waffle wafted through the kitchen and made our mouths water. And if there were hot cherries to go with the waffles, it had to at least be a Sunday or birthday. But enough of remembering those times and get out the waffle iron now and dust it off.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g SanLucar Cherries
  • 200 g of margarine
  • 75 g of sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 300 g flour
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 250 ml of cream
  • 1 tablespoon of corn starch
  • 250 ml of water
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 6 eggs

Cherry sauce:

Stir in the cherries and sauté with 250 ml of water. Stir in the corn starch in cold water and add to the cherries. Simmer until the sauce thickens. If necessary, lightly sugar.

Waffles:

Stir margarine, 75 g sugar, vanilla sugar, salt, eggs till creamy. Mix the flour with baking powder and 250 ml of cream, add to the batter. Oil the waffle iron and add the batter in portions. Bake the waffles till golden brown and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with the cherry sauce. Bon Appetit!
