Who wants to learn everything about the fruit and vegetable business from scratch, can join us for an apprenticeship in wholesale and foreign trade.
You can either do the training at our headquarters in sunny Valencia (Spain) or at SanLucar in Ettlingen (Germany), where you’ll learn all about the processes: from harvest to sales.
Your profile:
At least GCSEs (or comparable qualifications) for the training in Germany/ A-Levels or a vocational diploma (or comparable) for the training in Spain
You speak good German and English, and of course Spanish if you apply for the apprenticeship in Spain
You like working with people and in a dynamic environment
One of your strengths are quick comprehension, motivation and a proactive attitude
Your main motivation is to learn and develop yourself in an international environment by gaining experience in practice – learning by doing!
You love fruit and vegetables

About the dual training in Germany
At the beginning, you focus on the different processes in order to understand the greater purpose behind. Gradually you begin to combine different work processes. Because of the variety of the training you have continuous insight into different areas of the company, such as warehouse/logistics management, purchasing/sales, administration/accounting, quality management and distribution. You will be involved in the working processes, projects and innovations in the different departments and actively participate in SanLucar’s international projects. Every day you will assume more and more responsibility and finish your training after three years with a state-approved exam.

The dual apprenticeship in Spain
We are the first company in Spain to offer the apprenticeship in wholesale and foreign trade which is based on the German dual education system we have successfully implemented in Germany some years ago – combining theory and practice: the theoretical principles are taught in Valencia at the SanLucar Academy in collaboration with the FEDA Madrid. Besides having highly qualified teachers at the FEDA Madrid, you will benefit from our business experts, who regularly hold presentations at the SanLucar Academy. During your training you will become a veritable fruit and vegetable expert and will use your knowledge directly in practice in Valencia. After two years you will complete the apprenticeship by passing the exam for the qualification of a wholesale and foreign market merchant (m/f), approved by the German Chamber of Commerce. During the two years you will receive a monthly salary of 600€.

Graduated in northern Germany, started the professional training at SanLucar in 2017.
Why did you decide to do the dual training?
I love living in other countries and speaking other languages. My teacher in northern Germany told me about the German dual education model FEDA Madrid (Formación Empresarial Dual Alemana) in Spain. This programme has advantages for both parties: The trainee can gather practical experience and not just abstract, theoretical knowledge, while the company has the opportunity to train the individual with the goal of offering the trainee a position at the company after successfully completing the training.
Why SanLucar?
Various companies invited me to job interviews, but I liked SanLucar the most from the beginning. I’m very impressed with the history of this young, multinational company and can identify with their corporate philosophy.
How is the dual training set up?
The training takes two years. You spend 65 per cent of the time at the company and 35 per cent of the time at the business school. I work in different departments at SanLucar, so I can learn different things. I started out in administration, but my training is specifically aimed at the sales and distribution areas.
What kind of experiences have you had so far?
Only good ones! I feel very comfortable at SanLucar. I enjoy communicating in Spanish, English and German very much. The working atmosphere is very informal. I want to learn a lot more and gain deeper experience in sales and distribution.
