Sweet and dangerous get out of the sugar trap!

Sweet and dangerous get out of the sugar trap!

Our desire for sweets starts with breakfast. A fresh croissant with strawberry jam is too delicious. At noon we finish our meal with a dessert and in between, we enjoy a hearty snack. Goodbye to formality. Sugar is said to put you in a good mood. And even in the evening in front of the TV we are still hungry for something sugary. So much sugar: that can’t be healthy. And we have not even included the fact that there is a lot of the harmful sweetener in soft drinks and convenience meals. The consequences of excessive sugar consumption are obesity, cardiovascular diseases, joint problems and, according to many studies, Type II diabetes.
Clearly, less sugar is more – more health, more vitality, more quality of life. The World Health Organization recommends a daily intake of no more than 25 grams of sugar. That’s really not much, considering that a fruit yoghurt can contain that much sugar.
But how do you get away from this sweet “drug”? It’s not that hard. Here are a few tips for you:
Don’t touch soft drinks, fruit juices and light drinks. Much better: drink water, unsweetened teas or lemonade! On hot days and during physical exertion, please drink at least 2.5 litres of it.
Sweets are rigorously banned from the house. They won’t tempt you if you have any in your cupboards.
For dessert, just have a delicious natural yoghurt with fruits.
Check out your muesli and the cereals. Often enormous amounts of sugar are hidden there. Muesli is also very easy to make yourself. It tastes particularly good with low-sugar berries.
Bye-bye, ketchup and barbecue sauces! Season with fresh herbs or make the sauces yourself without sugar. Convenience meals should also be off your menu. Home-cooked dishes with lots of fresh vegetables taste much better anyway.
Be stingy with wheat! The grain has little nutrients and pushes up sugar levels. Instead of white flour products, therefore, it is better to switch to whole grains with a high fibre content.
With these tips, you can change your diet to low-sugar in the long run and your body will thank you for it!
