Who hasn’t been through this: a family celebration without plenty of fantastically delicious food? It doesn’t happen too often. And because it tastes so good, you take another helping. Only Grandma and Grandpa insist on their senior citizens’ plate. »After all, we’re not the youngest anymore«. They’re right. But if you adjust your food to your age, you don’t have to be afraid of gaining weight and you can treat yourself to a feast occasionally.
And it’s actually easy! All you need to know is that people in upper ages have lower energy consumption. It’s therefore all the more important now eat foods that provide you with lots of vitamins and minerals, but are still low in fat and calories. And there is probably no better friend and helper than fruit and vegetables for this. They don’t just fulfill all these wishes – they also satiate you longer! In addition, you should also include legumes and whole grain products in your eating plan as much as possible. Fish has multiple valuable fats – so you can always stop at the fish stand. But be careful: for dairy products, you should switch to the low-fat variants. And sausage, meat and eggs? Best to eat those in moderation. If you take all this into consideration and provide your body with enough water, you won’t need to worry about anything. Your body will certainly forgive you for the gourmet meal at the next family feast! 😉
